The Lives We Build For Ourselves

Before I became a Christian, the life I built for myself had the wrong foundation. It was built upon my own will and my own desires and was built by my own strength. In my eyes it sometimes seemed successful. But it was going nowhere. Its foundation was the quicksand of my sin. It did not satisfy. Our own will is quicksand. Obeying God*s will is the Rock. My life was like a house built upon sand.

Matthew 7:24-27: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

My life was like a pit of miry clay. I was helpless to improve it or escape it.

Psalms 40:2: He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

1 Corinthians 10:1-4: Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; 2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; 3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Romans 6:4: Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

The Lord buried my old sinful life and gave me a new one. The new one may not seem as high as the old one but it will be. It will reach all the way to Heaven someday. It is built upon The Rock of Ages.

Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Mark 8:35: For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel*s, the same shall save it.

Have you given your life for the gospel? Are you still breathing? Then it is not too late!!
